Hello everyone, Annabelle here.
Last summer, I flew out to Colorado for what was supposed to be a chill weekend with my cousin. She’s a big edibles fan, but I’d only ever tried them once years ago, so my tolerance was basically zero. One night, she suggested we try a new homemade brownie recipe she got from a friend who grows his own strain called “Purple Zen.”
Fast forward to dessert time: I didn’t realize how potent these brownies were, so I ate an entire piece (maybe six inches square). About an hour later, I felt like I was walking on marshmallows, and every sound became hilariously amplified. My cousin had to remind me to drink water, and I ended up on the couch, fascinated by the swirling pattern of the rug for what felt like ages!

What’s crazy is how real and vivid everything was, the colors, the sense of time stretching, even the texture of my hoodie. It was all so intense. Thankfully, I had someone I trusted to keep an eye on me and hand me snacks when I got too zoned out.
Moral of the story? Know your dosage, especially when it’s homemade! Ever since then, I’ve been more careful (and learned to cut brownies into smaller pieces). But honestly, it was an experience I’ll never forget. I came out of it with a new respect for how powerful edibles can be and a funny story for the books.
Has anyone else had an unexpectedly strong edible experience? If so, I’d love to hear about it!
